July 26, 2007. KCCI, the number one station in the market provides an accurate assessment of the situation. (Note the quality of this video -- GREAT videographer). My next door neighbor affirms the message we're trying to share. The woman across the street (whose kids' initial reaction to the display last year -- jumping up and down then faces plastered against their window with big smiles on their faces as they watched the display -- made my day) points out that our city streets aren't designed for Christmas traffic. Which, of course, is all the more reason the out-of-control egos running our City who are now firmly entrenched with their hostile stance towards my Christmas lights need to get over themselves and actually participate in a simple plan that serves the thousands of taxpaying citizens who want to see my lights while costing the City nothing.

Does anybody else find it ironic that I, personally, need nothing from the City -- I can turn my lights on and look at them myself anytime I want. But that what they really have a problem with is when I turn them on to share them with the citizens THEY are supposed to care about? Methinks the problem is that they no longer use the tremendous power they wield to serve taxpayers. They use it like a personal perk to impose their own self-serving agendas on those who entrusted them with that power in the first place.
